Jiah Choe
Jiah Choe covers immigration and demographics for Medill on the Hill. She is a senior studying journalism, political science and legal studies at Northwestern University. Previously, she interned at the International Organization for Migration headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland and worked on Chicago College Emmy-nominated documentary, “Defying the Odds.”
Valerie Chu
Valerie Chu covers health and science for Medill on the Hill. She is pursuing a triple major in journalism, data science and international studies. In Evanston, she has contributed to The Daily Northwestern, North by Northwestern and nuAZN in various design, photography and reporting roles. She has worked in areas focusing on public service, database marketing and wind tunnels. This past summer, she interned as a social and digital media intern at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.
Edward Simon Cruz
Edward Simon Cruz covers education for Medill on the Hill. The New Jersey native is a sophomore at Northwestern University studying journalism and secondary teaching in English. He has served as the audio editor for The Daily Northwestern, where he covers education, and he is currently the campus/local editor at WNUR News in Evanston.
Norah D’Cruze
Norah D’Cruze covers politics for Medill on the Hill. The Maryland native is a sophomore at Northwestern University pursuing a dual degree in journalism and social policy. She is an anchor and reporter for the Northwestern News Network and has written for North by Northwestern. D’Cruze has work featured in Chicago’s WTTW.
Sasha Draeger-Mazer
Sasha Draeger-Mazer covers national security for Medill on the Hill. She is a sophomore studying journalism and political science at Northwestern University. On campus, she writes for the Daily Northwestern, where she most recently served as digital managing editor.
Paris Fransway
Paris Fransway covers politics for Medill on the Hill. She is a junior at Northwestern University, double majoring in journalism and political science and pursuing a certificate in integrated marketing communications. On campus, Fransway is an executive producer, anchor, and reporter for the Northwestern News Network. Her work has been featured on Chicago’s WTTW and The Evanston Roundtable. She previously interned with TMJ4 News (WTMJ) in Milwaukee.

Jeremy Fredricks covers national security for Medill on the Hill. He is a junior studying journalism and history at Northwestern University. Fredricks was an intern at WJFW-TV during the summer of 2024, reporting in Rhinelander, Wis. On campus, he is a reporter, anchor and producer for the Northwestern News Network.
Samanta Habashy
Sam Habashy covers Immigration and Demographics for Medill on the Hill. Born in Cairo, Egypt, she is a junior studying journalism and international studies. In Evanston, Sam served as the Diversity and Inclusion editor for The Daily Northwestern and has interned at Advocate Magazine in Dallas, Texas.
Jorge Martinez
Jorge Martinez covers education for Medill on the Hill. He is a sophomore at Northwestern University and studies journalism and legal studies. Jorge has written for LGBTQ Nation and The Cicero Independiente, and interned with the 2024 DNC and the Democratic Party of Illinois.
Lenna Peterson
Lenna Peterson covers politics for Medill on the Hill. She is a junior at Northwestern University pursuing a double major in journalism and history and a certificate in Holocaust studies. While in Evanston, she serves as an executive producer, reporter and anchor for Northwestern News Network. From Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Peterson interned on the Copywriting Team at Rocket Mortgage this past summer.
Victoria Ryan
Victoria Ryan covers immigration and demographics for Medill on the Hill. She is a sophomore studying journalism and political science. On campus, Ryan is an executive producer, anchor and reporter for the Northwestern News Network and is the co-head of marketing for NU Wildside. Her work has been featured on Chicago’s WTTW and Western Michigan University’s WMUK. Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, she ran social media for the USTA Boys’ 18 & 16 National Championship this past summer.

Micah Sandy covers politics for Medill News Service. Originally from New York, Sandy is a third-year student studying journalism, political science and classical studies. He previously interned at Encyclopedia Britannica. At Northwestern, he served as a reporter and producer for Northwestern News Network and as a digital managing editor for The Daily Northwestern.

Sarah Serota covers business for Medill on the Hill. She is a sophomore from New York studying journalism and economics at Northwestern University. In Evanston, Sarah has previously worked as a senior editor for North by Northwestern magazine and wrote for the website’s features section. She has also written for The Daily Northwestern and served as a copy editor and assistant games editor. Previously, she interned at Cape Cod Life magazine.

Zoe Singer covers politics for Medill on the Hill. The New York City native is a sophomore at Northwestern University studying journalism and legal studies. She is a reporter for Northwestern News Network and has written for the Daily Northwestern.
Sofia Sorochinskaia
Sofia Sorochinskaia covers national security for Medill on the Hill. She is a junior studying journalism and international studies at Northwestern University. Originally from Russia, Sofia reported for The Moscow Times, served as a news producer for TV Rain, and contributed to the Russia.Post project at George Washington University. In 2025, she received the Overseas Press Club Foundation Scholar Award.

Originally from Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, she reports for Evanston Now on campus. She also anchors and reports for WNUR News and Northwestern News Network.

Joshua Sukoff covers politics for Medill on the Hill. A native of New York, he studies journalism, political science and legal studies at Northwestern University. In Evanston, Joshua takes photographs for Northwestern’s athletic department and Office of Global Marketing and Communications.
