WASHINGTON — Georgetown University students gathered around a television Tuesday night to watch President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address. The students of various political affiliations expected to see gun control, health care and minimum wage increases as popular topics in the speech. There were common subjects that most of them hoped would be given a lot of attention, such as the Keystone Pipeline and the legalization of marijuana, that were not mentioned.

After the speech, students at a George Washington University watch party talked about what words resonated most with them. Students were particularly impressed by the assertive stance Obama took in this year’s State of the Union.
