Sophia Bateman

Sophia Bateman covers business for Medill on the Hill. Originally from London, she’s a sophomore at Northwestern University, studying journalism, political science, and data science. On campus, she reports for The Daily Northwestern and co-leads the digital editorial team of Spoon University, Northwestern’s food publication.

Tia Bethke

Tia Bethke covers housing and transportation for Medill on the Hill. Originally from Southeastern Wisconsin, she is a junior studying journalism and political science. On campus, she writes for The Daily Northwestern, where she primarily covers city council and housing, and most recently served as assistant city editor. 

Ashley Dong

Ashley Dong covers national security and photographs for Medill on the Hill. She’s a junior studying journalism and data science at Northwestern University. On campus, she reports and edits for The Daily Northwestern. She also photographs for Northwestern Athletics. Originally from the Bay Area, Ashley is a member of AAJA and a Dow Jones News Fund alum.

Natalie Gordon

Natalie Gordon covers national security for Medill on the Hill. She is a junior from Washington, D.C., studying journalism and political science at Northwestern University. On campus, Natalie writes for The Daily Northwestern and serves as a student researcher with the Medill Local News Initiative. 

Caroline Gould

Caroline Gould covers health and sciences for Medill on the Hill. Originally from Kansas City, she is a senior at Northwestern University studying journalism. In Evanston, she reports and writes for The Daily Northwestern and is a designer for North by Northwestern. 

Maya Heyman

Maya Heyman covers politics for Medill on the Hill. She is a junior from Miami studying journalism and political science at Northwestern University. On campus, she writes for The Daily Northwestern, where she most recently served as the social media and newsletter editor.

Summer Hu

Summer Hu covers business for Medill on the Hill. She’s a sophomore studying journalism and political science. On campus, she edits and writes for The Daily Northwestern, the Northwestern Undergraduate Law Journal and nuAZN — NU’s Asian-interest magazine. A San Diego native, Hu spent the summer interning for The Coast News.

Regan Huizenga

Regan Huizenga covers education for Medill on the Hill. She is a junior from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, studying journalism and political science at Northwestern University. In Evanston, she writes for The Daily Northwestern and most recently served as a print managing editor. 

Annie Jiang

Annie Jiang covers politics for Medill on the Hill. Jiang is a sophomore studying Journalism and Economics at Northwestern University. On campus, she’s an editor for Northwestern Business Review and nuAZN magazine, which covers Asian American experiences and issues on campus. Originally from Shanghai and Los Angeles, Jiang has worked with the Sampan Newspaper, Harvard University’s Division of Continuing Education and the Los Angeles Times.

Originally from Davis, California, they are a sophomore studying journalism and political science with a minor in data science at Northwestern University. Isabella Kunc

Isabella Kunc is a Medill Sophomore from Minneapolis covering business for Medill on the Hill. She studies journalism and legal studies and is interested in AI and Big Tech, the Supreme Court and Spanish-language reporting. Eliza Martin covers health and science for Medill on the Hill. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, she is a sophomore at Northwestern University studying journalism and history. On campus, she has worked for the audio, arts and entertainment desks at The Daily Northwestern. 

Tomas Moran

Tomas Moran covers politics for Medill on the Hill. He is a sophomore from Wheaton, Illinois, and Lima, Peru, studying journalism and political science. His minors are Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Spanish at Northwestern University. On campus, he reports for the Northwestern News Network and WNUR Sports. He competes for the Model United Nations Travel Team. He is currently interning for CNN.

Sai Trivedi covers Immigration and Demographics for Medill News Service. Originally from Long Beach, California, he is a junior studying journalism and political science at Northwestern University. On campus, Sai serves as Editor-in-Chief of Inside NU, Northwestern’s sports writing outlet. He has experience with court reporting and working for The Daily Northwestern’s polling desk. He also serves as Co-President of AASJ, Northwestern’s chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association. 

Miguel Tsang

Miguel Tsang covers politics for Medill on the Hill. A native of Alexandria, Virginia, he’s a junior studying journalism and psychology at Northwestern University. He covers video stories for the Northwestern News Network and contributes writing and video for The Daily Northwestern. Miguel is also a member of the Social Media Committee for Northwestern’s chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
