WASHINGTON – “There’s only one solution – intifada, revolution,” chanted May Day March protesters on Wednesday.

Organized by the Washington DC branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), this year’s event aimed to unify workers and students in advocating for a liberated Palestine.

The protesters first met in Franklin Park, in front of the Washington Post building, where, among other topics, they discussed the media coverage of the Israel-Palestine war and the pro-Palestinian protests. “Every time the media lies, the neighborhood in Gaza dies,” the crowd chanted.

The protesters then marched to the encampment at George Washington University to “stand arm in arm with students nationally taking a stand against U.S.-Israeli genocide in Gaza,” as PSL wrote in a statement on Instagram. According to PSL, students and their willingness to struggle for a “Free Palestine” are the driving force of the resistance movement.

Earlier that day, a group of Republicans from the U.S. House Oversight Committee visited the pro-Palestinian encampment at George Washington University Wednesday, calling on D.C. police to remove the student demonstrators who plan to continue the encampment on Thursday.
