WASHINGTON— Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-Ark.) denounced President Biden, citing that he is the first president to “surrender to a woke mob” in a Republican response to the State of the Union address on Tuesday.
The former White House press secretary in the Trump administration says she believes Biden’s presidency is no longer divided by partisan lines, but that “the choice is between normal or crazy.”
“The Biden administration seems more interested in woke fantasies than the hard reality Americans face every day,” Sanders said. “Most Americans simply want to live their lives in freedom and peace. But we are under attack in a left wing culture war.”
The governor criticized Biden’s lack of response to school curriculum mentioning critical race theory, citing a need for a new education reform.
“Here in Arkansas and across America, Republicans are working to end the policy of trapping kids in failing schools and sentencing them to a lifetime of poverty,” said Sanders. “We will educate, not indoctrinate our kids and put students on a path to success.”
Amidst tensions between the U.S. and China continuing to unfold, the governor criticized Biden’s national security policies.
“President Biden’s weakness puts our nation and the world at risk,” Sanders said. “President Biden is unwilling to defend our border, defend our skies and defend our people. He is simply unfit to serve as commander in chief.”
Sanders’ response was met with praise from other Republican leaders, with Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) tweeting a photo watching the governor, claiming she “knocked it out of the park.”
“The contrast between her speech and Biden’s couldn’t be more clear,” McCarthy said in a Tweet Tuesday night. “Republicans offer a vision for a future built on freedom, not fear-mongering.”
