WASHINGTON — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump stopped by the nation’s capital today for the ribbon cutting ceremony on his new hotel, which opened on Pennsylvania Avenue last month. Though the event was not promoted as a campaign stop — and did not offer public admission — Trump used it as an opportunity to sell his abilities to renovate spaces and therefore improve the nation. He also spoke out against Hillary Clinton’s support of Obamacare.
The ceremony, held hours before a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, contrasted with the typical scene of Trump’s campaign events. In a way, it spoke to the contrast between Donald Trump — a billionaire real estate mogul — and his support, which is strongest among white men without college degrees. Here, photos from his rally last week in Colorado Springs, Colorado, appear alongside images from today’s event, held at a hotel where rooms start at about $400 a night.
