WASHINGTON — Thousands of anti-abortion activists faced freezing temperatures Wednesday to participate the annual March for Life.

Although their school was closed due to the snow, several middle school students from the Mother of God School in Gaithersburg, Md., attended the march. Denise Madaras, who teaches math at the school and served as a chaperone for the group, said more people would have joined her group if the weather had been better.
“There were some people that were going to go and didn’t,” she said. “They were concerned about the travel on the roads because … the backroads are still problematic with the snow.”
High school senior Coel Schultz traveled from Illinois with her youth group to attend the march. She said that although the cold bothered her at first, her belief in the cause prompted her to stay.
“You think about why you’re here and why you’re doing this and just push through it because it’s the right thing to do,” she said.
