WASHINGTON — A life-size wax figure of former first lady Nancy Reagan was to be unveiled at Madame Tussauds DC on Tuesday morning.
The figure is meant to capture Reagan as she looked in 1985 at the outset of President Ronald Reagan’s second term. It is dressed in “Reagan red,” a color often worn by the first lady. The wax figure took approximately 800 hours to make, with 140 hours dedicated to recreating the first lady’s hair alone, according to the museum.
Reagan, the widow of former President Reagan, was first lady from 1981 to 1989. She organized the “Just Say No” drug awareness campaign during her husband’s administration. Reagan was born in 1921 and married Ronald Reagan in 1952. Before her husband entered politics, she worked as a Hollywood actress, staring in Donovan’s Brain, Night into the Morning and Hellcats of the Navy.
